• I am trying to create a child-theme for the theme FlatOn with no success. I used an ftp-client to create style.css and functions.php files and put them in the themes directory.

When I preview the child-theme in “Themes” (Admin Panel) I get this error code on the top of the page and the original parent themes layout is not there. Any ideas?

I’ve used the guide at the link below:
    http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/how-to-create-wordpress-child-theme/

    Thanks!

  • have you tried using the guide in the codex

    create child theme

When you create it make sure the template name matches the name of your parent theme.

Thank for your reply and suggestion. I tried using the guide in the codex (and adjusting to my own theme info, etc) to no avail.

Now I also got the error code: “Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’ in /www/webvol6/ni/iad6vn50wlriq0u/smalfilmsmekka.se/public_html/wp-content/themes/twentyfourteen-child/functions.php on line 1”

    Any ideas?
