    Hi,

I just installed the plugin to use with Mandrill to test it as I want to move from Mailchimp and get on to more in control solution which I am thinking of as Mailpoet + Mailchimp. In order to test it, I have setup both but I get following error while sending a test mail:

SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host. |
Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: unable to connect to smtp.mandrillapp.com:587 (Connection refused) in …/wp-content/plugins/wysija-newsletters/inc/phpmailer/class.smtp.php on line 123

I have about 12000 subscribers and want to setup it for them. So, kindly help resolving this error.

    Regards
    Dheeraj

I do understand that GoDaddy which is my service provider has blocked the ports as per various articles on this issue over internet and they will no longer be opening it for SMTP.

Hence, what is my solution to it. Mandrill supports both WPMail over HTTP by REST APIs and SMTP too but MailPort does not support the option of WpMail using Mandrill and provide ony option of SMTP integration. Is it possible that you have such configuration too that skip the SMTP part of Mandrill and use their APIs so that people like me who are looking for this amazing combination are not ruled out by limitations posed by our providers like Godaddy.

Does premium version have such settings as I anyway have to buy a premium version due to subscriber count of 12000 but before going ahead want to ensure all is working fine.

Does SendGrid integration will also have same issue with SMPT in that case I believe?

There is a way to use wp_mail() with Mandrill on MailPoet, but we don’t support it officially, so if it doesn’t work, we can’t help you: http://cfxdesign.com/email-wordpress-posts-to-subscribers-with-mandrill-and-mailpoet/

We suggest you to use SendGrid, since MailPoet have built-in support for their API: https://support.mailpoet.com/knowledgebase/sendgrid/
