That is not currently possible but certainly something I could look into adding support for. Are you looking to just display the blog post title as a link in the top? You could currently just manually add a link at the top to your latest post if you don’t mind maintaining that.

My clients want the latest posts from a category displayed in full, and aren’t the Tech savviest of all people. So they wouldn’t want to maintain and link to the post every single time.

What I was envisioning, was a drop down, so once you click a tab it would drop down to display the post.

I know that’s probably a pretty tall order but I figured it was worth a shot.

Gotcha. Yeah that’s not really the aim of this plugin. This is more of an announcement banner, kind of a simple version of the banner on top of Hipmunk where it says Hipmunk Trip Planning. Sorry I couldn’t help. But i’ll keep that feature in mind in the future when i decide to add more major features.

So I had a thought. Is it possible to use short codes in the message? I could use a combination of your plugin, and latest posts by shortcode plugin, and have the latest posts from a category show up. But I guess it would all depend on whether I can useshortcode inside the message.

Not the most elegant or ideal of solutions, but I think it’s a decent work around.

*edit* no, that wouldn’t work. I forgot its not a drop down. Never mind.

Yeah as you found out unfortunately not. What shortcodes do is use PHP functions to grab information internally and display it as browser readable HTML. Anything put into the text section of the banner is just straight text put in, as is, to the HTML of the banner. So anything requiring grabbing of information from the WordPress website would require a alteration of the PHP code used to create this plugin.

Huh. Looks like I’ll be looking into something custom.

Thanks for the info! Awesome support!
