Okay, didn’t take long for this wonderful program to kick me out. If this is simple, God save us from complicated.

I tried to set the features up in the Dashboard. First was the password (Admin Access Key, as they call it). I set that up, after making a careful note of it somewhere safe.

Next was the Firewall settings. I set (I think) everything to ‘on’, i.e. everything was protected. Should be good, yes?

Next thing I tried I got this message:

You were blocked by the WordPress Simple Firewall. Something in the URL, Form or Cookie data wasn’t appropriate.

Oops, whatever had I done?? Nothing. Just selected the options, as instructed. Still, a bad move, obviously.

Now no matter what I click on I get that message. I’ve done virtually nothing, not even finished setting it up, and it’s locked me out. Wow, great software … I don’t know how I ever managed without it.

Can someone please tell me how to make this work sensibly, or, failing that, how to get rid of it permanently. I’m so fed up with software that’s more complicated than I can cope with. And anything that turns on me within the first five minutes qualifies for that.

    Hi,

Sorry for your trouble with this.

To turn off the firewall processing, have a read here:
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/help-start-here

If you would like further help to set it up thereafter, please let me know.

My guess is you have something in your cookies that tripped the scan. Simply turning off the cookie option will probably sort the problem for you.

The software is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do depending on the configuration.

But as the admin with file access you have always got a way in.
