I’m trying to build a static homepage of MH Newsdesk which will look somewhat like your demo theme page. But the widgets are not responding. I’ve set up the page according to your instructions, however there was one problem. Under “template” dropdown menu there are only 3 options “Default Template; Page-Fullwidth; Page-Homepage “. None of these match your instructions.
Also the widgets are not being shown on the homepage. And those that do show up are ignoring the visibility filter and carrying the wrong content.

I’m beginning to think that the lite version is more limited than what is shown in the documentation. Can you clarify?

As a result of several attempts, my permalinks are now a mess, but I think that is another question.

  • Hi colinjn,

thanks for using MH Newsdesk lite.

It seems that you haven’t configured the static front page properly and haven’t set the static front page in your WordPress dashboard under “Settings => Reading”. Here you can find more information: How to set a Static Front Page in WordPress.

If you want to enable the widgetized front page template for your static front page, you’ll need to select the “Page – Homepage” template.

Custom widgets available in the free version of the theme are:

    • MH Custom Posts [lite]
    • MH Posts Large [lite]
    • MH Recent Posts

You can find more information in the theme documentation.

Please also keep in mind that the theme actually doesn’t affect your permalinks at all. That means if you have an issue with your permalinks, you’ll need to configure them properly in your WordPress dashboard under “Settings => Permalinks” or eventually check your plugins.

    Have a nice weekend.
