Looking for a plugin that makes a user able to edit certain pages.
-
ok i tried over 5 plugins and 24hrs + searching but cant find anything working.
First one i tried is http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wpnamedusers/
even if i added stuff but didnt work, as my test account wasnt able to edit the pages that were assigned to.Second one was http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-sentry/
same as the first plugin as user wasnt able to edit the assigned pages. These two plugins had extreme load on sever too.
Thired one was memory hugry plugin too. called User Access Manager http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-access-manager/
same problem as above plugins, werent able to edit assigned pages.the last one was my favourite, very light of server, but it is an old plugin, the developer dropped support for it and i am not a coder to fix it. it is:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-permissions/please not that i DID EXATLY AS THE PlUGIN INSTRUCTOR SAID and still didnt work. if you have any other plugin then please post. i hope the last one can be forked or fixed by someone for wp 2.7

any one still have solution for this.
Haven’t tried this but…
http://code.google.com/p/wp-group-restriction/“These two plugins had extreme load on sever too.”
What kind of load and under what circumstances? I can’t speak for the other, but I’ve seen Sentry running on a number of good-sized, reasonably trafficked sites with nary a problem.
I’m the author of the User Access Manager. I have optimized the code for the next release. If you, SuperMAG, want to try it let me know. I can send you an beta and you can say me what’s going wrong. If it is still to memory hugry, you have suggestions or any idea to make my plugin better, let me know.
Bye,
Alexthe sentry and the wpnammed one had load on server, because the admin of the hosting contracted me and told me that it excuetes 250+ queries in one page. and i checked which was correct, and also it takes 2 mb of memory too. normal plugin maximum takes .50 mb.
@GM_Ales
Yes i want to try the optimized one. could you please send me, by this page: http://sports2all.com/contact/I’m guessing that’s a problem with your configuration or theme, because in normal usage Sentry executes very few queries on its own. As a general rule, it just modifies normal WP queries.
How are you ascertaining how much memory a specific plugin is using? Also, how many users do you have on your site?
i have almost 500 users. sentry use 1.71mb of memory.
How are you ascertaining how much memory a specific plugin is using?
there is a plugin called wp-security, when ever i try to install a plugin i note the memory that is shown there, after installion i check again and calculate. i started that when i had problems not able to install plugins because of memory limit reached etc. now i have BIG LIST OF Plugins and MEMORY usage.
here it is:

I’m interested to see how that plugin calculates the ram another plugin is using (or even the amount that wordpress, specifically, is using) but I can’t seem to find it. Do you have a URL for the wp-security plugin?
I’ve tried the wp-security-scan (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-security-scan/) plugin, but I think that the memory usage shown by this plugin is not a good indicator for the performance. I have done some experiments. n^2 (number of post) computations (not optimized code) vs n computations (optimized code) and nothing by the memory usage changed. If I deleted some HTML code in my plugin the memory usage was drastically reduced.
may be it calculates the number of http requests, donno that much.
but i had memory limit problems and the calculations helped out when i removed memory hungry plugins.
oh i forgot, i tested a code to find the memory usage when searching in internet and putted it in the footer, the total amount of memory was not correct, but when i activitated a plugin and devativated, same amount of memory was used.
+ i wasn’t pointing of how much memory that plugin’s uses. its about how many queries it executes. i mean 250 queries can completely destroy a server if you don’t have a cache plugin.
I have seen sentry installed on a 1000+ user WP install with nowhere near that many queries. This is primarily because Sentry itself doesn’t have to run many additional queries. I’d be interested to see your setup to determine exactly how you coaxed it into doing so, though.
well i donno my self, when i saw a footer of the page that i allowed few other people to edit it were more then 250 queries and 16 seconds loading time, i panicked and uninstalled the plugin. i was warned by my host the day after that day.
