Show Dashboard Widget for Editors / Other Roles

So the plugin’s settings seem to indicate that visibility of the dashboard widget is determined by Role Level hierarchy, and setting: “Show the dashboard widget for” “Editor and above” would allow you to have the widget appear for any custom role at or above the same level as Editor (e.g. a custom role that’s level 7 or better should show the plugin).
However, you point out in the following thread:

that “any role with the ‘edit_others_posts’ capability can see that menu.
That doesn’t work well for many of our sites, since we usually limit group or section editors to only editing their own pages, post, etc.
It would be much better if the visibility of the widget was based on what it says it’s based – on role level, not that specific capability.
Can this be fixed in a future update?
Or, perhaps it can be assigned directly to specific roles (including custom ones)?
