I am using v 4.8.0 of iThemes security and have settings to lock out enable Blacklist Repeat Offender and lock them out after 3 tries–but I am getting attempts to log in repeatedly. Until I turned off the email notifications, I was getting one every 15 minutues,

    Dear Site Admin,

A user, Swami Satchidananda, has been locked out of the WordPress site at http://swamisatchidananda.org due to too many bad login attempts.

I tightened the wp-admin password. What else can I do to protect the site and to be able to reenable notifications without all this unwanted email?

  • Hi,

Unfortunately there’s only so much you can do to protect against an something attacking. But there’s plenty you can do to prevent them from getting in. And it sounds like that’s what security is doing.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

Turn of the notifications, the attempts will always be there. Good thing the plugin detects and blocks the ip adresses.
