Actually the plugin was doing it before but it ended-up in being a mess and the plugin became dangerous at that point. The plugin decides a name for the file based on the title, if the file exists already, it doesn’t do anything, it is as simple as that. It mark it so that you know that it has not been renamed.
When the plugin used to do this, problems appeared when you start removing files or updating them independently, then you could easily create a “hole” in this numbering. Following that, the renaming and the updates could go bad (really bad) for different reasons.
But there are two things you can do:
1. You can do it manually. If you do it manually, the plugin decides that “you are in charge” and let you whatever you do and will not update the filename automatically after that (except if you change the title).
2. The plugin can let you decide what the filename for this media is going to be (not many people are aware of that). And in that case, you can even choose to use the filename that the plugin decided and add a number in case it exists already. If this filename you decide by yourself has not been taken, the plugin will use it. It’s the best of two world, my plugin is on the safe side, but users can customize its behavior (I am not responsible haha).
