How to set image for selected menu?

I don’t know if this is an option but i am able to do a work around by inserting the following jquery code in the footer.

	function setSelectedMenu(){
		var srcToSet = $(".current-menu-item").find(".hovered-image").attr('src');

		$(".current-menu-item").find(".menu-image").attr('src', srcToSet);

	}

	setSelectedMenu();

});
