Try using “ftp.unfoldingleadership.com:21” for the hostname.

Also try a different web browser, yours may be doing something strange.

Thanks, Otto. Progress! BUT Now here’s what I’m getting in both Safari and Firefox:

    Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.7.1.zip

    Unpacking the core update

    Could not copy files

    Installation Failed

    What shall I try next?

    Thanks again!

Check the permissions on your wp-content folder and the wp-content/upgrade folder. Make sure it’s high enough to allow the folders to be written to. What those permissions need to be depends on the server configuration, but 777 will work. You can change it back off 777 afterwards.

Otto, I’m already at 777 on the wp-content folder. Not sure what you mean by the wp-content/upgrade folder? Is there supposed to be an upgrade folder within wp-content?

Well, yes. The upgrade process tries to create a /wp-content/upgrade/ directory as a temporary working directory in order to unzip the WordPress files into it. If it can’t create that directory, then that’s the sort of error you’d get.

    So what would you suggest?

By the way, I have been able to update several different plugins using the built in updater in 2.7. Just haven’t been able to update from 2.7 to 2.7.1. Further advice?

Thanks so much for the help thus far.
