Support » Fixing WordPress » Getting random 404 errors on pages

  • Hi. I tried to enable hotlink prevention in cpanel earlier this morning. After that, pages on my server have been randomly showing 404 errors. The strange thing is that after a while, these 404 errors go away and the page works again. I’m getting about 2-5 404 errors every second right now (my server gets about 18000 hits daily). This is the error message I get:

    Not Found

The requested URL /2009/01/10/windows-7-beta-now-available was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    Apache/2.2.9 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.9 OpenSSL/0.9.7a DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at http://www.vistarewired.com Port 80

I didn’t touch permalinks or htaccess manually in anyway. Please help me out. Thanks!
