    Hi,

I have a lot of pictures and I want to organize them in Att. Categories. It always works fine, but now I don’t know why it doesn’t.

When I select in the Assistant “No Att. Categories” and click “Filter”, appear well all the images with no categories correct. Then I select some of them and click “Edit” instead of Bulk, and goes correct.

But when I select the Att Category in order to classify, an then click “Update”, appears a RED message: Waiting: 0, Complete: 2, Unchanged: 2, Succeeded: 0, Failed: 0

    Nothing happened.

Couriously when I go to each image individually to edit, and I select the Att. Category and Update, it works fine. It seems only when using Multiple at the same time.

I have so many pictures it would be horrible to go one by one!

Please give me some help with this if you know how!

    Thanks!!

Thank you for your report and for the testing you did to identify the details of your problem. You have found a defect introduced in the most recent MLA version (2.12).

I have uploaded a new MLA Development Version dated 20150626 that corrects the problem. You can find step-by-step instructions for using the Development Version in this earlier topic:

    MLA errors when using plugin

If you get a chance to try the Development Version please let me know if it resolves your problem. I will leave this topic unresolved until the fix goes out in the next MLA version.

Thank you for reporting the problem! Thanks as well for your interest in the plugin.

I can confirm I have the exact same problem. I installed the Development Version and when I try to update the att categories, the result is -1 and nothing is changed.

Thank you for your report, and for taking the time to try the Development Version. Because you wrote “the result is -1“, I do not think you have encountered the exact same problem. The problem fixed in the 20150626 Development Version left everything unchanged, but did not return an error code. Your “-1” indicates an Ajax error return, which is a different symptom.

Just to clarify, are you using the Bulk Edit area or the Quick Edit area? Can you tell me more about the steps you took so I can try to reproduce your problem?

If you have time, you can also try activating the Debug tab and looking for MLA messages in the error log. You can find information on activating and using the Debug tab in the “MLA Debug Tab” section of the Settings/Media Library Assistant Documentation tab. IF you do find something relevant, please post it here.

Thanks for any additional information you can provide.

I have done more testing and have a question and a suggestion.

Question: where exactly do you see the “-1”. I have seen it just below the “Cancel” button in the Quick Edit area, for example. IN the Bulk Edit area, I have seen it just to the right of the Cancel button.

Both of these are caused by some changes made to the “nonce” authorization check in the recent Development Version. You can correct the problem by clearing your browser cache or clicking the browser’s “refresh” button to remove an old copy of some MLA JavaScript code and downloading a fresh copy.

Let me know if that helps. Thank you!

Thank you for your quick reply and sorry for my late reply. I was trying to bulk edit some pictures filtered with no att. category. After I installed the developer version, the result was -1. Now it got back to “Waiting: 0, Complete: 3, Unchanged: 3, Succeeded: 0, Failed: 0” and no picture is changed. Cleared the cache, tried on different browsers, the result is the same.

I activated the debug tab and tried again to bulk edit those images. It doesn’t show any error from today, only from yesterday and that is : “[29-Jun-2015 17:48:25 UTC] PHP Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in */wp-content/plugins/media-library-assistant/includes/class-mla-main.php on line 921”.

Thank you for your response and for all the effort you have put in to install the Development Version and test different browsers, etc.

The error message you found in the log is consistent with the defect that was fixed in the 20150626 Development Version, although the line number does not match my source code. That defect was definitely fixed in the 20150626 version.

    • Can you confirm that the date shown in the heading of the Settings/Media Library Assistant screen is 20150626?
    • Have you tried using Quick Edit to update one of the images?
    • Have you tried changing the radio button below the Att. Categories checklist form “Add” to “Replace”?

If none of this helps I will create a new Development Version with some debug messages in the log to investigate further. I really appreciate your help and patience with this issue; thanks!

The error might be for the previous version I had, before installing the development version. Yes, the date is correct. The Quick Edit works well, it updates the image. The Replace radio button has the same effect – same message, no effect.

Thanks! I will continue my investigation and post an update when I know more.

I just realized that in the Development version neither the bulk edit area when uploading files is not working. It uploads the files without assigning the category I want for the images.

Thanks for your update. That would make sense, because it’s the same code used by both functions. On the other hand, make sure you’re doing things in the right order, as outlined in this recent topic:

Bulk Edit area in WP’s Upload New Media window

As I said, I will work on some debugging code for this issue. It would also help to have a look at your system, either by having access to a temporary account or by doing a screen-share session on Skype or Google+. Would either of those alternatives be possible?

The order is correct. How do I find you on Skype?

    Plugin Author David Lingren

    (@dglingren)

Thanks for your offer to host a Skype session.

I have just uploaded a new Development Version dated 20150701 with debug logging for the Bulk Edit updates. It may help me find the source of your problem.

To activate the debug logging you must edit your wp-config.php file and set the MLA_DEBUG_LEVEL to 3, i.e.:

    define( 'MLA_DEBUG_LEVEL', 3 );

Once that’s done, select one or two (at most) items for Bulk Edit and try to assign some terms. When the Bulk Edit is complete, go to the Debug tab and view or download the error log content.

Send me your contact information and I will respond with an email address where you can send the error log content and any other information you think helpful. I will also give you my Skype information in my response. You can use the Contact Us page at the FTJ web site:

    Hi David and Shumiholic,

I ‘ve been following your comments 2 weeks ago but I couldn’t participate on this thread because I was abroad, so I could not test the Development version properly.

Thanks for your very quick response.

Now I am back and I downloaded the Development version following the steps of the post that was given. The result was also -1, like what happened to Shumiholic.

So now I don’t know what the situation is.
Is there some possibility to solve this, are there other ways possible?
I am not shure what yo mean with editing the wp-config.php and the ‘debug’ issues.

This plugin is just the greatest I know to have some order in the images. I really hope we solve it!!

    @oliman

Welcome home – thanks for your update and for taking the time to try the Development Version.

The “-1” response can probably be fixed by clearing your browser cache or just refreshing the entire page by clicking the button to the right of the URL. Because the MLA version number is not changed in the Development Version, obsolete JavaScript files can hang around in the browser and cause problems like this.

The issues I am working with Shumiholic on are specific to the Polylang multi-language plugin. Are you using Polylang or WPML? If not, refreshing your browser may be enough to solve your problem.

If that doesn’t work I can be more specific about the debug process. Let me know how it goes for you.

    (@oliman)

    No, refreshing does not work.

After clearing cache and try to Edit to classify into Att. Category with Bulk Images I get the old message:

    Waiting: 0, Complete: 2, Unchanged: 2, Succeeded: 0, Failed: 0

    Yes, I am using WPML.
