  • Do you have a backup you could download to your local machine and see if the problem is the same in a local dev environment? If you have backups as far as a month ago you could also test to see if the problem exists with that backup.

It seems you login url has been changed somehow. Do you use any plugin for security?

I have a backup, but I’m pretty sure I would experience the same issues. I did a fresh install of WordPress, and I’m still getting the same results. Nothing has changed in the htaaccess file and everything looks fine.

No security plugins. I was actually trying to login to install a security plugin, which is ironic.

Any other suggestions? Not sure where to go from here. I’ve had 2 programmers look at it and they don’t know what is wrong either, but neither are very familiar with WP.

    bump

have you tried to rename your htaccess file and try to login with the file not being there?

Yes, renamed it, deleted it, restored it. I have no idea what’s going on. Most of the other topics related seem to be from 4-6 years ago. Any ideas?

does this file exist? wp-login.php ? confirm by logging in to ftp

also Try this , login to server via ftp and rename plugin and active theme folder, this will disable all plugin and force wordpress to load default theme.then try log in to website wp-login.php.

you can enable error loggin too to see any probable errors

    Yes, the file is there.

I’ve renamed the plugins folder and it does nothing as far as allowing access to the login.

This is another tricky thing. I’ve renamed the active them folder and even changed the active theme in the database to twentyfourteen – and when I do that, I get the white screen of death – but if I switch back to the active theme, then website works, but I’m back at square 1 and the login won’t work
