Thanks Paolo for reply. Its a fresh WP install, no plugins, except yours and WP default theme.
I use two hosting companies, it worked on one hosting did not on the other (the one I needed)
I came across this same problem with an event plugin. The hosting company that it did not work on has a security module, called ModSecurity. I deactivated the module on another site and installed geodirectory, and it worked. So I am nearly sure its the ModSecurity that is stopping geodirectory installing correctly.
So I went back and deleted the plugin from the first site and reinstalled it, with the ModSecurity settings to off. It did not work, but it still had my dummy data set. So I need to delete the geodirectory files from the database.
If you could point me to the best and quickest way to do this, that would be great.
If a fresh install works, with modsecurity off (which I am very sure it will) it could help other people as well.

The best way would be to drop the database and start over.
However once you turn off ModSecurity, what’s on the database doesn’t and shouldn’t change.
Everything should start working after restarting the webserver.
WordPress and ModSecurity aren’t best friends. GeoDirectory hates it.
Either your hosting provider disable it completely, or you will need to change provider.
Thanks

You marked this resolved, but its not.
I deactivated ModSecurity and did two new installs,on two other domains, same problem.
No other plugin installed and only default themes.

Hi,
I marked this resolved, because as you said, the problem isn’t GeoDirectory, but the server configuration.
If it was GeoDirectory it wouldn’t work on your other server too.
Many hosting provider don’t really give you an option to enable/disable modules. Probably ModSecurity is still active.
I would consider looking into alternative hosting providers.
