an example of each of these problems can be found on the third slide of my home page Titled EnvironmentSimulator.
1. You night Need To Re-Generate The Permalink WP-Admin -> Settings -> Permalinks -> Save Changes
2. The shorcode normally has to be pasted in the normal Text Mode
I did what you said and regenerated the perma-links but the download link is still not working, It brings me to the same 404 error page.
OK…. now I have a new problem. I turned off nice permalinks which stopped the 404 errors, however when I link to the download page now it shows me a file not founds error. http://mrsawyer.info/nathan/?dl_id=2 this is the link I am using, and as you can see from this image http://mrsawyer.info/nathan/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Capture.jpg the ID of the download is correct.
From your screenshot, the file is blank, so the file does not exist is correct.

Am I adding the file incorrectly? When I add the file I’ve been uploading it, and that little drop down menu to the right of it has 0 options, its just blank… is there supposed to be something there? I tried uninstalling the plugin and reinstalling and am receiving the same problem.

Try using your FTP upload the files to the folder as indicated on the second option to see if it works.
Sorry I did not respond right away, I was confronted by the wordpress white screen of death and a whole mess of problems ensued…. however everything is back to as it should be, thank god for backups. I solved the problem I was having by creating a sub directory in wp-content called “forDownload” where I uploaded all my files through ftp. then when I added a file to wp-downloadmanager, I used remote upload and link to the file that way. Thank you for your help. 🙂
I have a similar problem. Tried to solve id by regenerating permalinks but that didn’t worked. I have about 40 files in download area (http://blog.blagi.net/downloads/?dl_page=1). The file in question is:
http://blog.blagi.net/download/FESB_studentski_listovi.zip
When I uploaded it, a manager did find it and calculated a size. But the url:
http://blog.blagi.net/download/FESB_studentski_listovi.zip
is giving this error in Firefox:
File not found
Firefox can't find the file at http://blog.blagi.net/download/FESB_studentski_listovi.zip.
Check the file name for capitalisation or other typing errors.
Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.
I can see and download file in web hosting file manager. I uploaded it with ftp…
Any clue?
File size is about 205 MiB. Maybe that’s a problem?
