@yogieanamcara Are you running the latest version of ZenCache (v150626)? Have you customized or tweaked the ZenCache code at all? I’ve never seen that error before (however, it IS a ZenCache error–it’s just very rare to see it), as the only way it can occur is if ZenCache does not get run properly (the setup()
function should be getting called first, which sets up the base_dir
value–if setup()
doesn’t run first, then base_dir
is not configured and this error is thrown).
Are you able to reproduce this error consistently? Does it occur on one particular site more frequently than others? I would try narrowing it down to see if it’s a theme and/or a combination of other WordPress plugins that is causing this issue.
Well Version 150626 has been released after my posting, I updated to that version and activated ZenCache again. Now I do have to monitor if the issue (which not always happened) will appear again. I did not customized or tweaked the code btw.
I will do some testing but it will take a bit time as said before the issue was not tied to any specific site nor was it reproducible constantly.
Many thanks thus far.
Ok, I’m still getting the error, this time it occurred while I was logged in as an admin and browsing a blog and found an error in a posting and I clicked on “Edit” for the post and then I got the:
Exception thrown
Missing base_dir
option value.
Issue. So this happened when switching from fronted to the backend.
@yogieanamcara I’m not seeing anything here that is pointing to ZenCache as being at fault. Are you seeing ZenCache in the error messages anywhere? Is there a particular reason you think ZenCache is causing this issue?
Well I only get these Missing base_dir option value. issues only when ZenCache is enabled.
@yogieanamcara Can you test today’s update (v150709) and let me know if you’re still having this issue?
@raamdev Hi, well at least it looks like it is fixed with that version, alas up to now the errors did not occurred. I’ll keep an eye on that and report again if the issue will pop up again. Thank you so much for now.
@raamdev
Today I ran again into the issue, here are the steps I have taken…
I visited my network admin page to update several plugins.
I ran the built in upgrade procedure to download and install all updates.
After successful downloads and installations, I clicked on “Themes” at the left hand side menu and was reported with the
Exception: Doing it wrong! Missing base_dir
option value. MUST call this method after setup()
.
I simply reloaded the URL and then I saw the message:
ZenCache: detected a new version of itself. Recompiling w/ latest version… wiping the cache… all done 🙂
Maybe this helps?
Cheers
Joerg

Strange, but i don’t have that error you say about base_dir. Still it seems that when updaing ZenCache to a newer version you MUST visit the Dashboard and NOT just log off. Otherwise ZenCache doesn’t update well.
