• Hello,
I’ve been told by Web Designers in Australia that I would not be tech savvy enough to build my own support and that Word Press is American Based and not entirely appropriate for building a Site in Australia.

Is this true or scaremongering. I’ve watched several of Tyler Moore’s presentations and am leave very impressed. I want a basic e commerce site with images, buy it now options and clear functional check out carte with Paypal and credit card options for Payment.

  • WordPress.COM has hosting based in the USA (as far as I’m aware, but I could be wrong). But that doesn’t have anything to do with a self-hosted site using the software from WordPress.ORG

When you create your own self-hosted site you can choose where it’s hosted as you are the one that decides on the hosting account. You can also decide on what features you want, what theme, etc. You can do pretty much anything that you want to.

As far as building a site goes, a basic e-commerce site can be done without much technicalk knowledge. You just need an e-commerce plugin and a theme to suit it. After that you might want some other plugins to expand the functionality, but unless you want to do some larger modifications, you should be fine.
