  • Yes, suddenly having trouble with this plugin after a few years. Thought it might have been the update to latest wordpress but reverted back to compatible version and it’s still not working. Have turned off off plugins and turned out it’s this plugin that just isn’t working. Also tried the plugin in another theme and it’s still not working.

Absolutely no idea why it’s not working, so hoping an updated version might help!

I’m trying to contact the owner to gain access to the repository and fix some of the errors.

yep @ciprian I’m interested in this plugin too, and would offer to pitch in on support – my programmer would too…

I wasn’t able to get the original author to add me as a contributor.

I’m not sure forking the plugin would be in the best interest of users who already have it installed.

He wouldn’t add you, but he won’t fix the plugin either? nice.

Yikes, I just tried to contact the developer by going to his website – (smashly dot net) and was redirected to a malware domain. I =guess he has bigger things to worry about than this old plugin…

No, I contacted him via Twitter – https://twitter.com/byronbennett – I tried again today, awaiting his reply.

    @ciprian
YES! I am definitely interested and YES I would be willing to put up some funds to make it worth the effort for you.
This is (was?) an amazing gallery plugin and nothing else comparable has taken its place (so far as I am aware)
I cried when it was closed out…tried to keep using it but had compatability issues, same as everyone else!

    Let me know!!

    Please!!!

    Thanks!

I’m keeping an eye on this thread, but I need more users. Share this page and I’ll start working on it.

I just pinged him on Twitter too, and sent a link to here…

    Hi All,
I would be happy to turn Photosmash over to the community. The code is complete in the WordPress plugin directory. It is GPL, so anyone is free to take it and do with it as you would like.

If there is some reason to keep it live under its current directory, I would be fine turning it over, but don’t know how.

Hi Byron, if you add any user to the “Contributors” section, in your readme.txt file, that person would have push/commit access to the repository.

    For example:
    Contributors: bennebw, butterflymedia

Contact me privately if you have any questions.

    Cool – sounds like progress… πŸ˜‰

I have fixed lots of errors so far, the only thing still looking funny with some themes is the styling. I’ll get to that.

@byron, let me know if you can do it. It would be great to be able to push the update to all users of the plugin, instead of starting a new plugin.

@all, I have it working with WordPress 4.2.4, still lots of fixes to go in.

    Hi Ciprian,

I honestly can’t believe folks are still using PhotoSmash! I keep hoping that someone will develop something similar, but haven’t seen anything yet.

I’ve added ‘butterflymedia’ as a committer. I did that through the Admin page. Hopefully that does what you need.

    Cheers,
    Byron

Hi Byron, I can’t believe either, but I just finished a client project where I used PhotoSmash and I said why not add the fixes and improvements to the official plugin.

Unfortunately, I am not a committer, I can’t see the plugin in my plugins list.
