  • …an appropriate theme and plugins for a specific website…

Finding a ready-made theme that looks and functions exactly as you wish can be quite challenging, and that means some compromise or customization will likely be needed. Professional customization can be expensive and even challenging all in itself, so that means you might need to find a theme you can learn to customize on your own…and there is where these forums can be helpful as long as you use a theme from right here at wordpress.org. Have you found something even close to what you would like to have? If so, the next step (after dealing with site security) is to see how easily it can be customized.

There’s most likely lots of people that can help you here. 🙂

But, we need to know what you’re looking for. Features, requirements, etc. What you’ve looked at so far and why it doesn’t work for your requirements. That sort of thing.

I think the best way to solve your problem is hiring a programmer to create your own theme, OR, you can start learning how to create one. I was like you before, then I decided to design and code my own.

Here is my blog by the way [link moderated – the forum is not the right place to showcase your site] which by default the theme is twenty eleven but I modify all the layout (a little bit css, but mostly html structure)

I am actually searching for a search engine theme, or if not possible, the appropriate plugins to create one

Have you tried a search for those terms?

i have but no valid results… i want a website like this one http://powys.info-engine.org.uk/index.php?id=1&L=0

If you want a site as specific as that one, your best bet is to pay someone to help you out. These forums are more for assistance on work you’ve already done, not for complete hand holding through the entire website building process.

I would suspect that non-WordPress site is simply displaying search results found within its database, so the challenge for you there would be to first build your own database to be searched and to then use any of the many available plugins (or even just WordPress, itself) for actually searching whatever you make available at your site. And then, themes are typically just “skins”, as such, for displaying whatever might be available at your site. So overall, my point is this: Finding a theme is something you can do at any time even after you have developed content for your site to display.
