I can only suggest that it may be a plugin conflict.
As a test, Deactivate all but bbpress and private groups and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error

Dear Robin,
I’ve deactivated every plugin except BBPRESS and private group. Still not working.
I am facing the same issue. On the “Forum Visibility settings” page, I have checked the option for “activate forum visibility”. But still private group forums (title/description) are not visible to non-loggedin users.
I have also set “URL of redirect page for LOGGED-IN user” and “URL of redirect page for NON-LOGGED-IN” text fields to login page but when I directly access the private group forums page, it still shows 404 error.

Robin, i’ve set the forum to private (thats why i use your plugin :))
If i change it to public the forum works properly.
I’ve set you plugin to activate forum visibility.

Yes to get forum visibility you need them set to public, which I know os counter-intuitive, but I am working with the settings that bbpress has to make the product flexible !
So the forums are public and then set to visible – yes?

No, the forum is private and i set forum visibility in your plugin and got a 404.
so set the forum to public, my plugin then takes care of access.

It doesn’t. If i set the forum to public and set the forumgroup to group1. im also able to see the forum as guest. So if im guest i see the forum instead of redirecting to the login page.
hmmm… not sure what to recommend next
what other plugins are you running?
