generate change password prompt on first login?

Is there any way to prompt users to change their password on firstlogin? We are looking into using this on a multisite instance and mass-importing twenty or thirty users at once. If we have to use a simple default we want to remind people to change their password on login to something more secure. Right now, all we can do is put directions in the notification email.
