Order paid notification

Problem: My shop receive a lot of Direct bank transfer payments and after money go to my account, I need to change the order status from “on-hold” to “processing”. This I can mark the orders paid. However, my customer always wonder if their money already goes to my account and I need to manually notify them about their order status.
Question: is there any simple way to automatically let people know that their orders are already marked as paid? A plugin or a simple hack would be useful.
