  • I had a very similar issue.

A page, built with the visual composer, switched to “default editor” the next time I logged in. All shortcodes were there, in WordPress’ built-in visual editor.

I then switched back to visual editor and everything was in a single text block.

    What is the expected behavior?

I don’t understand, the builder is not working or how you can’t edit elements visually?

    1. Are Unyson and extensions up to date?
    2. Have you tried to recover the page from Revisions?
    3. Do you know how to reproduce the problem?

    HI and thanks for the quick reply;

    1. I was running version 2.2.1 of Unyson. I have since updated it.
    2. Recovering the page from Revisions works but does not solve the problem (everything is still in a single text block). In fact, it seems that restoring an older version defaults the editor to WordPress’ Visual Editor, regardless of what editor I was using (before clicking “update” or after saving the post has the same result). This was true both before and after updating the plugin.
    3. Nope. I tried recreating a post with some elements, switching from Visual editor to Default editor, saving at several points and I couldn’t reproduce. Note that the issue happened without me touching the website: one day everything was fine, few days later the posts were only displaying the shortcode and switching to Visual editor would show everything in a text block.

Please update to latest version. We regularly fix bugs and release new versions. Also make sure the Extensions are up-to-date.

    See Changelog for version 2.2.8:

    > Improved post save: Options are saved in revision and autosave. Restore from revision works.

So before 2.2.8, Revisions didn’t worked, sorry. Unfortunately revisions were created but they are broken. Revisions created with Unyson 2.2.8+ are valid and you can restore from them.

    Hi,

I have the same problem. Just logged in today seeing that my homepage just had a “text block” element with a shortcode containing all the content from the page a few days ago.
    Everything is up to date.
Do you have a solution ?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello ggglyke,

    1. Create a backup of your site/database (use backup extension)
    2. Try to restore the page from post Revisions

    Hi,

This doesn’t work. Everything is still in a text block.
    I emailed you with more details at dev-team ( a ) unyson.io

Here is a screen capture of the page loading : http://www.guillaumejarry.me/fichiers/ethicDuo_error.mp4
It’s strange because I can see the blocks during a few ms before getting the text. (when I switch back to visual editor, there’s only a text block).

    Thank you for your help.

I don’t know why the builder was disabled, but the solution is simple:

    1. Delete all text from Default Editor
    2. Switch to Visual Page Builder

Hi I am having the same issue and have tried the above solution and it did not work.

All my short codes still appear in a text block.

Moldcraft from Unyson helped me on this one and this dummy solution (delete all the text in default editor and then switch to visual builder) worked for me.

Moldcraft said it’s because there is a security feature that prevent you to switch to visuel builder if you have text in default editor. That’s why you have to delete all before switching. And by magic all blocks are here.

    Hey ggglyke,

Thanks for the response! I appreciate your help.

However your method doesn’t seem to apply to me as I have no text appears on the default editor on either the text or html tabs. The short codes only appear under a text box in visual editor.

Any Idea what else could be causing this issue?

    Any insight would be appreciated.

Here is a what my screen looks like when I try to edit my home page. http://imgur.com/a/KdeY4

any help on this would be appreciated 🙂

    Hello @oskyguy

Thank you for your site admin details, however I wasn’t able to find the cause of the problem (I have no idea why all pages broke).

I created a new test page and it works well.

Sorry, the only solution at the moment is to rebuild the pages. 🙁

If it will happen again, please check apache error log.
