• Dear WordPressers,

I hope some one can help me, since I’m in a complete state of panic right now.

I build my WordPresssite http://www.newpoetry.nl about one year ago. I took me a lot of effort, since I don’t have a lot of knowledge about website buidling. But it was perfect just the way it was.

Today, I logged on to my website for the firt time in some monthes. I saw that I had to update my plugins, WordPressversion and theme. I first downloaded my last backup that was created by WP Backup Plugin. After that, I updated the plugins and WordPress version. So far so good. After that, I wanted to update my theme, which is Hueman. I got an error while updating, and saw after the update that the theme was broken because of missing files. Since, for as far as I could remember, I hadn’t made any big changes to the theme manually, I decided to earase the theme completly and redownload it. I thought I would probably loose my colorscheme because of this and maybe some other Theme options, but I would keep my pages and posts.

Sadly, I lost all my pages, posts and plugins when I reïnstalled the theme. I did keep my colorscheme though… I really want my site back. I did, however, keep the downloaded version of the backup. Sadly, I have no idea if this contains my pages and posts and plugins…

I hope someone can give me some advise about what to do, because I’m lost right now.

Have you tried: – Flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
resetting the plugins folder by FTP. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder (if you have created such folder). The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old.
    – If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the unedited default Twenty Fifteen theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
    – If all the above steps do not resolve the issue, then try MANUAL updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old copies of files & folder on your server before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first.

Thank you Tara for your answer,

Sadly I tried all this and it didn’t work. The problem is that, when I click on ‘Pages’ or ‘Posts’, it doesn’t show any of the pages or posts I created (except for one very old post, strange enough…). I think that with deleting my old theme, I have somehow deleted all my pages and posts too.

Another thing that could have happened, I just realised, is this: I used WP Backup to reset an old backup. I later found out that I only kept backups of my database, and not of my files. Could this have deleted all my pages and posts?

Oh, I found out something else. When I click on ‘posts categories’, it still shows all my categories and the correct number of posts that should be in this categorie, even though the posts are still not showing on the website or on my Dashboard. This must mean they’re still on the database somewhere, right?

    lose

Yes, well, I just compared the database backup that i had made to the database on my server, and I saw that my posts and pages are still on my servers database. I’m quessing that I am just, somehow, not able to see them on my online page and on my wordpress admin.

So, the problem is still not resolved. Could someone help me to fix this?
