My Facebook and Instagram feeds were working fine until I ran the latest FTS update 2 days ago.

Now both (each) my Facebook and Instagram feeds are showing this error message to my visitors:

Warning: unserialize() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /home/content/p3nexnas05_data01/74/2118574/html/wp-content/plugins/feed-them-social/includes/feed-them-functions.php on line 1462

    Below the warnings are

“No Posts Found. Are you sure this is a Facebook Page ID and not a Facebook Group or Event ID?”

    and

“Looks like instagram’s API down. Please try clearing cache and reloading this page in the near future. If it continues try adding your own API Token to the Instragram Options page of our plugin.”

When I am logged into my site, the Instagram feed seems to work fine and the Facebook feed displays…

Error: An unexpected error has occurred. Please retry your request later.
    Type: OAuthException
    Code: 2

I have re-checked my Facebook App ID & Token setting, and re-checked my own Instagram API token setting. All seem to be working.

Any suggestions on how to fix this so unlogged-in users can see the feeds? My website is at ybgfestival.org, and the FTS feeds are at the bottom of the page.

    Hey kikilin,
    Sorry for the troubles!

Can you please copy and paste the report from the system info page under the FTS tab and also the shortcodes you are using to display the feeds!

May be better to post it on our support forum as you can set the post to private so others cannot view the information.

    Hi Justin,
I couldn’t figure out how to set a private post on your other support forum, but I’m not a premium user. Here are the further details…

Thanks for that, did you try to empty the cache? Also try deleting and reinstalling the plugin.

    (@kikilin)

Oh yes, empty the FTS cache and my browser cache and the cache option from my hosting server were the first things I did. I did also deactivate and delete the plugin, and then re-installed. Did all that before I re-checked my tokens.

    kikilin,
Well just an initial test shows it is working on our site using the test input.
    http://feedthemsocial.com/?feedID=ybgfestival

So it could be either a plugin conflict or it is your server causing the issue.

Have you tried deactivating all of the plugins except FTS then reactivating and checking one at a time?

    thanks,
    Justin

I deactivated all plugins except for FTS. In that state, my feed shows fine when I’m logged in but when I’m not logged in it still shows:

Warning: unserialize() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas10_data03/78/2604578/html/wp-content/plugins/feed-them-social/includes/feed-them-functions.php on line 1462

    Instagram Photos
Looks like instagram’s API down. Please try clearing cache and reloading this page in the near future. If it continues try adding your own API Token to the Instragram Options page of our plugin.

I guess my next step is to ask my hosting service for help, and then if no luck reverting my site to pre-5/17/15 FTS update condition.

    Hey Kilillin,
can you please install this version of free plugin http://www.slickremix.com/downloads/feed-them-social2.zip This is not a live version but we are unable to replicate the issue on our server and want you to test to see if it resolves the warnings at least.

**Note** this may not completely resolve the issue.

    Thanks,
    Justin

    Hi Justin,

That version of FTS you gave me the link for totally worked! My FB & Instagram feeds are both back to working as expected.

Thank you thank you thank you.

Appreciate all the help, especially for us non-premium users.

No problem, glad to hear that worked! If you get a chance to leave a review that would be awesome! https://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/feed-them-social#postform

I noticed your facebook feed like button text is black next to the button. If you go to the Facebook Options page and choose light, you will be able to read the text better 🙂

Was this fix incorporated beyond 1.7.5? I had 1.8.1 on our site and we still had the occasional error that would break the site layout. I just used the zip above to test, but I prefer not to have an out-of-date plugin in place. I’ll monitor and see if this works. Thanks for looking into it.

No we are still unable to get someone who can duplicate a site that has this issue for us to debug. We are at a loss as to why this is happening only when being logged out of the site. If you would like to help, please email us at support @ slickremix.com, we are willing to pay for your time.
