To be honest, I *do not* like the look of that. It’s not base64, I don’t know what it is. Maybe a function elsewhere decodes it?

Do you have access to fresh unmodified copy of the theme?

Can you share the top of that theme’s style.css? There’s too many theme providers which are not GPL friendly and I’d be interested in seeing who it is. The “WP_Premium” theme had hundreds of hits in a search engine.

I am 99.994% sure that’s from a commercial PHP obfuscater. It’s not good and like all of that nonsense is meant to prevent you from modifying the code.

My apologies, I was at work.

here’s the top of the css file…

i do not have access to an unmodified copy of the theme, i’m kind of being thrown into the deep end….trying to decipher what’s all in the code…there were so many ads, it’s been a challenge to hunt them all down!

Yeah, that theme site no longer exists.

Perhaps it’s time for a new theme? The current theme is old enough that the site no longer exists, and the code is purposefully obfuscated so that you can’t modify it or find out what it does. If it were me, I certainly wouldn’t want to trust my site under that.

There are currently 1,886 free themes in the official directory, and absolutely none of them have obfuscated code (such a thing would get the theme developer banned from the directory).

she’s deleting the site, or most of it anyways, leaving only a few pages up…a few posts up. there’s a bunch of advertising i’m trying to get rid of for her, and was worried that this might be some of what’s caused her problems with all the ads on her site.
I don’t mind replicating her site with a clean theme, i just didn’t know what the heck that was, and if it was somehow causing the advertising problem.
    thanks for looking into it!

    You’re welcome!

It’s not a type of obfuscation I recognize, and if the theme is using its own proprietary obfuscation, it’s going to be nearly impossible to figure out what all that is without reverse-engineering everything.

Obfuscation is evil, if you ever make your own themes or plugins, please don’t do it.
