  • First of all deactivate the theme which you want to delete and active another one. Then click on the theme details which you want to delete. After clicking on the theme details a new page will pop up with the details. On the right corner of the page you will get “Delete” option to delete.

    Thanks.

I followed all of these steps, but the themes remain in place. Is there another way to delete them?

When I went to delete my themes and selected “delete” it gave me a popup to confirm that I wanted to delete. In the same popup it had the option to “prevent popups like this from showing up in the future”, I made the assumption that it meant that my browser or WP would remember my choice of deleting the theme and prevent the popup from redundantly asking me to confirm but now the confirmation popup wont show and the theme won’t delete unless I go to another browser. (clearing history is not working)

I followed said instructions and deleted a theme where the settings had become corrupted.
I then logged in via FTP to ensure the theme had been complete deleted, folder and all. It had.

But when I reinstalled the theme, all the prior settings where still intact. In other words – it didn’t delete all of the theme. How do you delete all of it?

I discovered on another thread that themes also store their files in the database. Why doesn’t WP have an option for deleting themes data too? If you try several themes, they could leave behind a lot of junk.

@davidfb – in the future, please post your own support thread and we can help you there.

Many themes will save settings options in the database. So even if you delete the theme, the theme settings may still be in the database just waiting until you install or enable that theme again. Your best bet is to contact that theme developer for support and see how they recommend resetting their theme’s options.

Another option I found suggested Resetting the themes settings to default. looking for that now.

@bemdesign – I was adding information to the thread so it was more complete.
