• I have a purchased theme running and I am considering activating a 2nd theme (purchased too). I have the 2nd theme installed on a 2nd WP installation (subfolder) and setting all the checkboxes, options, font sizes, colors, etc…and getting it perfect. Is there a way to “save” those settings and configurations to move or copy to the root WP install so I don’t have to start from scratch when I install the 2nd theme in the root WP folder ?

(I have 2 WP installations running now (1 in root, 2nd in subfolder) and want to consolidate the 2nd one into the root…and save those settings from the 2nd one).

  • A way you could possibly do it is import the pages and posts using the WordPress importer: https://codex.wordpress.org/Tools_Import_Screen (selecting the WordPress option) from the old blog to the new blog.

Then when ready, moving the new blog into the main directory.

It’s advisable to back up files first.

How are you with navigating database tools such as PHPMyAdmin?

Thanks Tia. Hmm. If I use the “importer” that would mean I need to have the same pages, same images, etc,.. set up on the 2nd website same as the 1st theme/website. I guess. I have the 1st theme/website already exactly the way I want it (pages, text, JPGs, forms, etc. everything is perfect… I just want a new theme now. I just thought if I set up the 2nd theme on a totally new folder/website I could set it up and get it perfect before I activate it on the root.

I know where phpMyAdmin is and can see the databases, but not real confident in doing much with them, unless I have step by step instructions.
