• I am having an issue with contact form 7 SENDING email submissions to AOL or Yahoo addresses (Our client has an AOL email they want to send the form submissions to). I tried what other people did and changed our “FROM” address to one associated with the domain.

And that seemed to fix months ago it but it seems that recently it stopped working. I event tried with the same settings with the form plugin QuForm and those AOL emails did not receive submissions with that plugin either. It seems to be an AOL problem but I cannot figure out how to fix and they only give dedicated support to pay AOL customers.

Anyone else have similar problems? Help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I have lots of experience debugging SMTP problems, but sending to AOL reliably is a mystery that I have yet to solve. Even after crossing all the I’s and dotting all the T’s (smtp server, authentication, from address, SPF, DKIM). My best guess is that internally they are using an overaggressive blacklist.

Thanks Postman. this is so frustrating. Hopefully I could figure this out or other can give some insight into similar problems.

I have to imagine there are other people who use AOL, or clients do, who have the same problem.

If it absolutely has to go to an AOL address, then perhaps set up a Gmail account just for the website to send mail with, and in the Gmail settings, have it forward all received email to the AOL account.

I had a feeling that AOL would still figure out a way to block it even if it is a redirect, no?

Anyone ever have any news on if a redirect would work?

Or if AOL would still block it?
