changing page title

    hello guys – apologies if I use some of these terms wrongly.

    basically, I have a site hosted here: http://www.crazywisdomschool.com/cws/

    all the pages display the page name, eg: Events – in the browser window next to the favicon EXCEPT the main landing page (welcome) which shows a URL.

    I suspect that’s because it’s trying to take that info from the Site Name – which I’ve deleted as I have it on a hosted header image… is there a way to change the settings so it pulls in the page name (welcome)?

    any tips gratefully received.

    I have found the popular WordPress SEO plugin very useful for doing what you are requesting.

    Once activated, there is a settings area for “Titles & Metas”, you can set your homepage title and meta description (as well as other tabs for pages, post-types, etc.) then turn on the checkbox that allows the plugin to overwrite your titles.
