I see my resource usage overview and exactly from the date I updated to 4.2 the values went up and from the time I experience Internal server errors from time to time.

  • Are all your plugins/theme updated to the last version? Did you try asking your hosting for assistance? You could also check the error log to see if it hides some goodies about your issue(s).

The plugins for which an update is provided are updated.
I asked them and they said that I have a 200M limit for memory (which must be sufficient for WordPress) and the problem is from WordPress.
In the error log there’s a lot of:
PHP Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated ...) (tried to allocate ... bytes) in ...
Now, in addition to Internal server error, I see white pages and “Resource Limit Is Reached”.
I see in Sucuri Security that I am using 53.92M of memory!

It could be a number of things. Poorly coded plugin, conflict between two plugins or the theme. The best thing would be to disable all plugins and switch to one of the default themes. Check the server resorces usage. Turn plugins on one by one and after each activation check the memory consumption/cpu. It might take a while to pinpoint the culprit. I often heard that type of answer but only from lame hosting companies.

It’s not that easy to disable “working perfectly till yesterday” plugins on a live site, but I will try it as much as I can.
How a good hosting would answer?

I know how you feel atm 😉 I suppose it’s caused by a plugin or a theme that’s not tested/compatible with wp 4.2.

A good hosting would not blame it on WP (or any other cms), they wouldn’t leave their customer stranded and it would use all their knowledge and resources to pinpoint the problem, no matter what hosting package you use. Just my 5 cents

I worked a lot on every aspect of performance for some days, but guess what was brought up after that lot of effort… the problem was an attack on XML-RPC! my host blocked the IP and my site became functional as ever (even faster than ever!)
So @jdembowski please add this to the checklist, preferably on top: every one who is experiencing a non performing site, specially when it is not after any plguin/theme install/update, first of all try disabling the xmlrpc.php file with a plugin or by renaming it or setting its permission to 000.
