• Hi,
I am using NextGen gallery. Until now it has always worked fine, but just now on a new website it is playing up.

When I add a gallery it moans that the safe mode is on, but it adds the gallery anyway.

Then when I upload an image it goes through its routine and then cheerfully announces no pictures were added to the gallery.
I have tried to set and re-set the permissions to 777 on the gallery folder, but it doesn’t let me.

I have also tried adding the images manually, which works but is not very user friendly, but still nextGen doesn’t want or can’t see them.

I am out of ideas of what to do next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Jo.

  • I’m getting the same errors too. The Plug-in says the given file has uploaded but when I go to check the absolute location on the web server, there aren’t any pictures there.

if you have the safe-mode activate , you should create all folders and subfolders (“Thumbs”) manually, then try to upload it again. please post as well your server settings

Uhhhh Safe mode? Can you elaborate? All the Folders and sub folders get created it’s just that pictures can’t be uploaded at all. Even though the admin panel says the file is uploaded, nothing is on the web server.

    Hi,
    thanks for the replies.

I discovered that if pictures are added manually nextGen does find them when you ask it to look for new pictures in the gallery (through Manage Gallery).

Still no joy with adding the pictures through the plugin though. I did come across a thread, somewhere over here http://wordpress.org/support/topic/210576?replies=3 , that suggested to add something to the .htaccess file, but I haven’t had the chance yet to try that out.

In the meantime: here are the server settings –

    Jo.

I guess I’ve found the solution!

I had the same problems with uploading pictures / zip files. I also noticed I don’t have these problems with one website, while experiencing them with other websites. I made a comparison and saw there was no tmp folder in the root directory. I added this folder – and everything started working fine.

Now I am able to upload pictures and they appear in my galleries.

    Hi maciej.z,

I had a look at all my websites, and the one that is playing up does have a tmp folder. Does it need setting to 777 ?
