Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Neither of those worked. Is there anyway I can undo the wordpress upgrade.

One more thing before that, try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

As for rolling back the update. Do you have a file *and* database backup prior to the update that you can restore from?

Tried that James and think I have actually made problem worse.
Think this is a way of telling me I need to start over.

Think I just need to find web template and replace website and blog in one go.

Gutted that it was the update that did the damage because my hosting company are just wont help because its not their end.

Hm it’s blank now. Try the first steps one more time, with resetting the plugins and theme.

When there’s a blank screen, it usually means something is causing PHP to crash, not that you’ve lost your site.

Completely gone so have revamped blog and website from new install. Losts all my posts but life is too short. Maybe you can let me know why the comments section is missing from blog page despite have comments allowed for that page?

How did you lose all of your posts? There’s nothing in the update script that would nuke the posts table in the database.

Can you still find your database? Is there a table with _posts in the title with all of your posts still in it?

As for the missing comments section, does it appear if you switch to the Twenty Fifteen theme?
