Oh, I really detest the wordpress.org anti-spam thing. Please ignore my last two comments. I cannot edit either of them despite trying constantly for the last 10 minutes. My 3rd message was lost because I didn’t type a title. When I clicked ‘back’ the message was gone. Yet another example of why WordPress totally sucks when it tries to pretend to be a forum.

    Let’s start again….

    Hi,

I previously protected every post on my site using the global protection mechanism.

However now I want to unprotect a post, but i cannot. I put a checkmark next to ‘No, Do not protect this content.’ and removed the checkmark next to the user level I had selected. But when I update the post both of these checkboxes revert to their previous status. I can’t figure out why!

    Thanks for any help!!

    Lord Jon

Your posts were caught in the spam filter – next time, just give it time before you repost.

Your rapid reposts only made all your posts go through our screening.

    I’ve let this one through.

    Good luck!

Hi thoughton can you enable debug mode and then view the debug log file and report back.

    Hi,

I enabled the debug log, then I went to a random post and put a checkmark next to ‘No, don’t protect this post’, and I removed the checkmark next to the membership level. I then clicked Update.

However neither change was saved, and my debug log is still completely blank. What did I do wrong?

    Thanks!

Ok i think I’ve figured this out. I had the category protected in ‘Category protection’ panel. I originally thought that page was a one-time tool to change the protection status of old pages. I now realise it is a way to protect a category.

On a side note, I now need a way to change the protection status on 1000+ posts.
