Sort by date is broken in Version 2.0.79

    Running wordpress 4.2. I’ve got nextgen Version 2.0.79. When you tell it to sort a gallery by the date it’s using the date the image was uploaded. When nextgen uploads a gallery from a folder it uploads from the smallest file to the largest… So my files are all over the place in terms of the order they’re in. I need it to either sort by the order the image was taken (all images have meta intact with the date in the meta in several places) or to sort by at least the date the file was created or edited (LR “creates” JPEGs on export in the order they were taken, photoshop then edits them in that same order).

    How do I set it up so the sort is by the date taken using the meta?

    @jacobsen1 – NextGEN Gallery uploads images in the order they are found, it does not “sort” them first. If there is default sorting set it will sort them as it “writes” the gallery to its folder.

    Do you have a specific setting in use under Gallery > Other Options > Image Options?

    My setting in image options is to sort by date. I export from light room to a folder by date the image was taken. I run a Photoshop action on the images and when its done they’re still in that order. Once I drop the images into the uploader it then uploads them. When you view them by date on the site after upload they’re no longer in the order they were on my computer. The only way to match the order is to sort the folder on the computer by size, then they’re in the same order. I’m now sorting them by the alt tag which is closer to the correct order but still not correct.

    @jacobsen1 – IF the image meta data is still be retained after all of your processes are complete then I would expect the images to be sorted as noted once uploaded to NextGEN Gallery, that is, in date order versus size order.

    All I can suggest at the moment is to send us a Bug Report for us to look further into this as we may need to use your exact workflow to reproduce the problem you are describing.
