Last night my site was auto updated and now I am UNABLE TO CHANGE/EDIT while editing a post or page:
permalink names (clicking results in nothing)
Link Creation (clicking results in nothing)

this is just the two I found int he first couple of minutes of updating. As a reference, my other sites that have yet to auto update are still working fine. My other sites that have also updated (using different templates)have the same issues…

    HELP!!

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

I was under the impression this was NOT an auto update…that’s what it said on my dashboard…yet it has updated all on it’s own.

Perhaps we should have the opportunity to update MANUALLY….since that’s what it said. Then we could wait till all the BUGS were worked out instead of messing things us!!

Major point releases, x.x, 4.2 in this case, are not automatic updates unless otherwise configured via a modifcation to wp-config.php or a plugin.

With that said though, some hosting providers do force all updates automatically.

If you were updated to 4.2 automatically, and had not configured WordPress to do so, you’ll have to take that up with your hosting provider.
