Automatic update issue

I have several WP installations that seem to update to random versions of WordPress now and then.

For example, I’ve just received the following two email notifications –

Hiya! Your site at internetgeeksquad has been updated automatically to WordPress 4.1.3.

Howdy! Your site at magicalwonders has been updated automatically to WordPress 4.0.3.

So both sites have updated at the same time to different versions, neither of which is the lastest version available!

I don’t understand how this works? Should WP not update to latest version? Hope someone can advise?
