    Hi dirtystylus,

The query you created is of the type “override”, meaning it is meant for altering the way an existing page ( such as a taxonomy archive page ) looks. Overrides don’t give you the ability to filter by taxonomy, because it dynamically filters posts based on the page a user is viewing. If you know Drupal Views, then overrides are sort of like contextual filters… sort of.

I think you want to create a “widget” query. You can use a widget query anywhere on the site with a shortcode, and it allows for taxonomy filters.

Sorry if this is confusing, typing on a phone.

If you could explain a little about what you hoped to accomplish, I can be more helpful.

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

    Jonathan,

Ah. That was it! Thank you. This is a very useful plugin, especially for me (I do Drupal as well, and Views vs hand-writing WP_Query calls always struck me as a good plugin opportunity).
