Layout and Illegal string Checkbox issues

Hello, I recently installed your theme on a friends site, I’m having two issues.
The first is an Illegal string offset on line 75. I looked at your other support threads and was able to switch one of the values from $val[‘checkbox’] == 1 to $val == 1 and fix that issue, however when I do that, the Dark theme will stop working. I don’t really need the light theme so its more of just a heads up.

The other issue and the most important is the layout issue. The line divider that goes under a Forum name bisects the bubbles where you see the topic and post counts. as well as the freshness time:

I have tried several things and broken the site at least 4 times trying to fix the issue so this was a last resort.
