I’m using Gmail to receive form submissions. But I get this warning message on all emails received, “This message may not have been sent by: [email addy here]”.

Any ideas what the problem is?

    Thanks

That’s odd. Does it say that in the Email Message box in the backend of the WordPress site for the particular form’s Email & Actions?

In answer to your Q. No. See the error message here please:

Any ideas, should I scrap Gmail and use the site domain instead?

    Thanks a lot

I don’t think this is directly related to the plugin as this is more so a server issue. You might want to use the site domain. If you prefer to use Gmail, then it’d be best to use a free plugin that can use an efficient transactional email service.

That’s a contradiction. You’ve just essentially said that Ninja can not send to Gmail.

Conclusion: Ninja is not fit for purpose. Shame. Next…

@Juice370, I believe his main point was that this is a mail server issue, not a bug in the plugin.

Gmail is warning you that the sender address of the email you received has been forged. To prevent this make sure you setup your OWN address as the from address in Ninja Forms, not someone else’s. This usually goes hand-in-hand with using the correct SMTP server with authentication. You’ll likely need an SMTP plugin to handle that.

It is not a contradiction. Ninja Forms sends emails through the server that hosts your WordPress site. If there’s a problem with the server, then it is NOT the plugin itself. Ninja Forms can send submissions to any email address, provided 1) the server is set up correctly (i.e. MX records, server admin email set up, etc.) OR 2) a transactional email service like I mentioned earlier is set up.

    I agree with @postman SMTP.

This week the plugin is working perfectly with Gmail, no spam issues. I haven’t changed anything but I am now happy with this plugin, and have installed it on 3 more sites today. Result!

That’s great to hear! Can you mark this topic as resolved? Thanks!
