Saving Images to local server?

Anybody knows how to save images from feeds to local server?
Sometimes images moved to archive and therefore broken images in old posts. Also it’s not polite to use hotlinking…In old post on GITHUB [https://github.com/radgeek/FWP—SIC–Em] plugin author said:
5. Scroll down to find a new settings panel, called **Syndicated Images**. To turn on basic image caching, change the first setting, **Capture Images**, from “Hotlink the image at its original URL” to “Capture a copy of the image on this website and use the local copy.” Configure the other settings according to your needs, then hit the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
but seems it was in some early version and lost in upgrades.
So does anybody know how to save images?
Or maybe consider to create add-on for plugin to save images on local server?
I think it could be useful for many of us…Thanks!
