Ok – so my main issue is the size of my home page, number of plugins, numerous newsfeeds, and many images.
I am at my wits end for optimization plugins, techniques, etc. to get my page speed to an acceptable level (around 3 secs).
I am currently on shared hosting. The next step would be VPS, Dedicated, or do I go with managed WP hosting like WPEngine? I don’t want more control. I don’t want access to root. I want speed!!!!
I have not been able to launch because no one will stay on my site with an average of 6-8 secs page load time.
I am not a developer…just a wordpress user who knows my way around.
Of course the hosting companies try to sell you the most expensive package and I have a modest budget until I get some income coming in from this site.
Any guidance would be extremely appreciated!
    Thanks! Anna

This topic is close to discussing hosting options and those topics get shut down when found. They just attract too much spammy replies.

I’m not shutting this down yet but I am moving the topic to “How-to and Troubleshooting” where it belongs.

The problem with shared hosting is that it could be the bottle neck. It doesn’t have to be and many hosts do that well. But on a shared host your options for optimization are limited.

Try caching and minify plugins. That may help you.

If that doesn’t help then you may want to explorer new hosting options.

Slow page load could be due to many factors, without a link to the page to take a look is not possible to tell you even a first impression.
