Check in the screen options at the top of the panel and see if what you need is checked. I’m not 100% sure it’s an option but it might be. Screen options open up a panel at the top of the page to hide/show some of the edit panels.
Thanks for the suggestion. However, it did not reveal a list of Page Parents.
I’m using Theme 2014 if that helps.
Still have not discovered how to create a subpage.

You have to have created a page first that you will use as the parent.

I have several pages already prepared … in draft form … and one of these is the page I would like to make the parent and another is the page I would like to make the child. I tried to follow the Codex instructions, the first step being to follow the path ADMIN>PAGES>NEW. At this point, the instructions say “In the right menu, click the “Page Parent” drop-down menu. The drop-down menu contains a list of all the Pages already created for your site.”
Problem is, I don’t have a ‘right menu’ that produces a list of potential page parents. The only thing my screen shows to the right is the SCREEN OPTIONS button and it has nothing to do with lists of possible parent pages.
It seems so simple. I remain baffled.

I still have not learned how to create a sub page but I think I know a way to finesse the whole deal and take another path.
So I plan to mark this thread as RESOLVED because I am taking that alternate path.
