As directed, I downloaded the latest version and copied it to paste into my wp-content/plugins directory:

Upload the entire “wassup” directory to your wp-content/plugins directory on your host server
Navigate to your site’s WordPress admin >> Plugins page
    Activate WassUp plugin

Well here’s where I landed and here is the statement: (NO PLUGINS ALLOWED):
Support Configuration, Social Tools, Widgets & Sidebars
    Plugins Plugins on WordPress.com

“On WordPress.com, we include the most popular plugin functionality within our sites automatically. As a result, WordPress.com users won’t find a Plugins tab in the Dashboard.”

    How can I use Wassup?

If you are on WordPress.com you cannot load external plugins as WassUp. You need a “standalone/hosted” WordPress
