  • Does Sermon still have an active development or is this ‘workaround’ the way forward for it? Last thing we want to do is to begin support and maintenance of an inactive plugin.

We put 7 or 8 hours into creating an updated version that works with PHP 5.5.23 – following the instructions provided by Extrafino. It works now (sort of – still have a few problems with file uploads, but the Sermon Manager plugin has occaisional problems with uploads too).

Having a conceptual work around is NOT the same as having a supported and managed plugin. How do we merge in our code? Do we fork the code and start our own version of the plugin? What happens if a new version comes out and clobbers our changes?

With all the recent WP vulnerabilities, can we really trust a plugin that is not actively managed? We contacted Mark Barnes (one of the original authors) 2 weeks ago and have not heard a reply.

Yes, it’s sad. I only found the workaround to be able to keep the 200+ sermons of our church without having to move them each manually to a different plugin.
The only sign of life I noticed is that the support forum has been taken down for an upgrade note.
But I do not know if it will ever come back to life.
