Frank,

I’m sorry to be a nuisance, I have managed to sort out most of my problems but now I have another small one.

I was reading in another post about outputs to emails not working properly, but I can’t see how it was resolved, maybe I am just thick.

I didn’t really like the mess the standard email looked and only wanted to show the users details (That works fine) and the Questions and the Users Answer.

This is what I am getting in the email (1 line quiz for testing purposes)

Bam Bam
(email address removed)

%QUESTION%
Answer Provided: %USER_ANSWER%

This is what I have the email set at:

%USER_NAME% (Required)
%USER_EMAIL% (Required)
%USER_PHONE% (not Required)

%QUESTION%
Answer Provided: %USER_ANSWER%

As I said earlier, the first 3 parts work as they should, the rest of it doesn’t.

How do I overcome this ???

Kindest Regards

• Greetings Again Bam Bam:

Can you clarify which of the template variables are not working for you? Also, be sure to use the %QUESTIONS_ANSWERS% variable to show the questions and answers. This variable can be edited on the Text tab which is where you would use the %QUESTION% and similar variables.

Frank,

It is only the email to Admin template I am trying to configure.

The %QUESTIONS_ANSWERS% variable shows twice as much information as I want and makes the email look cluttered, that is why I am trying to use only the variables listed on the email page, %QUESTION% and %USER_ANSWER% so that hopefully that is all it will list instead of getting something that looks like below.

Improved Energy
Answer Provided: 1
Correct Answer:
Comments Entered:

There are no “Correct Answers” in the quiz/questionnaire so it just doesn’t need to be there and generally speaking there are no “Comments” either so that doesn’t need to be there either.

I may have mis-worded my last reply. What I meant was that you can actually edit the %QUESTIONS_ANSWERS% variable to show anything that you need by going to the Text tab and editing the %QUESTIONS_ANSWERS% Text option. Here, you would remove the correct answer and comments entered if necessary.

Frank,

Thanks for clarifying that, but just where in the Text tab can you edit that variable.

Looking at what is there, it looks to me as though all I can edit is what will show on various page templates and the text that appears on buttons etc:

Frank,

Sorry, I shouldn’t try doing these things on 3 hours sleep, I just found it.

Thanks again for your help.

Anyone else wondering about this look for this on the right hand side of the editor boxes, 8th editor down the page.

%QUESTIONS_ANSWERS% Text
Allowed Variables:
– %QUESTION%
– %USER_ANSWER%
– %CORRECT_ANSWER%
– %USER_COMMENTS%
– %CORRECT_ANSWER_INFO%

Frank,

Another question re what will show in an email.

When I use “Text Block” for my section headings as you suggested in another post, those Headings don’t show in the email at all and I think they should, because they give relevance to the questions that follow them.

Anyway of achieving that simply ???

If there isn’t, it may go back to the suggestion I made of having a “Question Type” called “Heading” that can be perhaps picked up with %HEADING% placed in the %QUESTIONS_ANSWERS% editor to make it show.

Frank,

I figured out a simpler solution, by adding the header in with the first question in that section and formatting the question like this:

Medical History
What is you Height - %BLANK%

Or if wanting a little more spacing between the Header and the first question:

Medical History

What is you Height - %BLANK%

Frank,

One last question on email formatting, is there someway to reduce the spacing between each set of questions and answers in the email??

Because this is going to a Doctors surgery, it will need to be printed out so that it can be revised with the Patient.

At the moment when printed from Gmail as a PDF it is 12 pages long.

Greetings Again Bam Bam:

I hadn’t thought about adding the headers to the email before. I will add that to the list of requested features.

As for the email, 12 pages is quite long indeed. Trying going into the %QUESTIONS_ANSWERS% text option again and make sure there is no white space after the last part of the text. For example, if your last line is the user answer, try clicking on a line after the user answer and try backspacing until you reach the end of the user answer. Let me know if that solves the issue.

(@bam-bam)

Frank,

There is no white space below the %QUESTIONS_ANSWERS% text option.

In Gmail, I clicked on Forward so that I can edit the email, it only required one backspace to reduce the gap between each question/answer and the next one, to reduce it to a reasonable spacing, if that helps at all.
