    Hi,

I have been using this plugin for the last few weeks on a client site. (I’d prefer to not post the URL). Everything works great for awhile, and then I get an “Invalid Access Token” error every few days or so. I have to go back in, re-authorize, and enter a new access token and then everything is fine again. I assume the access token is just expiring. Is there a setting in Instagram that can cause this? Any feedback is appreciated.

    Hey MissionSk8r21,

I’ve had mixed reports of the frequency of the expiration of Instagram Access Tokens. For example, the token we use on our own site hasn’t expired once and we’ve been using it for close to a year now, but a few users have reported their token expiring every few days, as in your case. All that Instagram’s documentation says is “Access tokens may expire at any time in the future.”

What’s worked for other users is to create a brand new Instagram account for the sole purpose of obtaining an Access Token. For most accounts it seems that tokens don’t expire very frequently and so this may solve the problem for you. Please let me know whether that’s the case.

I hope you’re having a great start to your week!

    Hey John,

Thanks for the rapid response. I went ahead and logged into another IG account, generated an access token and added it to the settings page while still maintaining the user ID for the primary account. So far things are working, I will follow up in a few days.
