I need to have the website look the same on mobile as on desktop. How can I do that?

Pictorico is a responsive theme – it adjusts automatically to look good on devices of different sizes, from phones to tablets to laptop and desktop screens. This is a current best practice in theme development.

Making the theme not responsive would be a major change, and I would recommend against it as it will make it hard to read on smaller devices.

Overriding the theme’s responsiveness would be something you’d need to experiment with on your own.

So is there anyway to modify the theme to make it have the grid pattern from the front page on a mobile sized screen?

Most phones will be too small to do display the grid in the same way as the desktop site, but if you did want to try it, you’d need to rewrite most of the theme’s CSS.
