Further to this, reverted back to 1.6.4 and this restores the featured image functionality. Any idea what the issue is with 1.6.6?
I’m building a custom theme, based on the Foundation responsive framework. All scripts are enqueued correctly. Only additional scripts are Cycle2 for a slideshow and Slick Carousel. Disabling these makes no difference, the issue definitely seems to be with Types 1.6.6.
Another issue has come to light with a Child Post type I’ve created for slideshows – in the “Fields Table” block, clicking “Add new slideshow image” brings up the spinning wheel, but the row never loads. If I click the main page “Update” button the row then appears.
These issues all go away when reverting to 1.6.4.

Also, tried with the default Twenty Fifteen theme and the problem’s still there with 1.6.6
Anyone else experiencing this?

I have no idea what happens with your WP. Could you turn all plugins except Types and check this? Maybe this is problem with some interaction between Types and other plugin or other plugin is a reason of this problem?

I am also getting the same since the last update. Cannot upload any images from a custom post made with types. This includes using the media button, or and image field within a child post. Also the featured image opens in a new window rather than a lightbox.
Normal WP pages and post are fine.
Have tried turning off all other plugins and using twenty thirteen theme.

I’ve tried it with all other plugins turned off, and with the default twenty fifteen theme, it still appears to be broken.
I’m using the Foundation responsive framework, but I’ve tried disabling all enqueued scripts and it doesn’t help.
Reverting to 1.6.4 fixes it, if that helps.

Noticed that someone else on the Types forum is having this problem. Has there been any progress? Just tried with latest 1.6.6.2 and the problem persists.
Here’s what I’ve noticed.
1. Featured Image still works on Posts, it just breaks on Pages.
2. Disabling all plugins doesn’t help.
3. Disabling all other scripts doesn’t help.
4. Using default TwentyFifteen theme, with all plugins disabled except for Types, doesn’t help – the problem persists.
5. When the Featured Image modal opens, there’s a grey “blank” image at the top-left of the image selection gallery. This only appears on Pages, not Posts. There’s nothing similar in the media library. Changing the dropdown to “uploaded to this post” or “unattached” makes it go away, but the problem remains – Featured Image still can’t be set. If you change back to “Images” again the grey image remains hidden but as soon as you select an image, it comes back again.
Can’t see any errors in the console.
The only thing that’s fixing it is reverting to 1.6.4.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Experiencing this issue as well with version 1.6.6.2
I have noticed that I can set the featured image if I do so upon creating the post, but however if I save the post and then try to add a featured image, the featured image can not be set.

Thanks for the response. Been looking into it a bit more, and while the problem may not be unique to Types, whatever’s changed between 1.6.4 and 1.6.6 is certainly highlighting the issue.
This thread shows exactly what’s happening to another user (not Types related, but same problem). There’s a screencast video too.

Ok, here’s some more info that may help.
I set up a brand new database with a clean installation of WordPress.
Added Types 1.6.6.3 – all was working fine.
Added my custom theme and selected this – all was still working fine.
Exported my Types settings from old site, and imported them via Types import/export tool to recreate all my custom post types and fields – problem was back again.
So, the issue seems to arise when the database is updated to contain the data written by Types.
It’s mostly straightforward stuff, the only mildly complicated thing is a child post type which is used to create a slideshow – I used the method described here: http://wp-types.com/documentation/user-guides/creating-groups-of-repeating-fields-using-fields-tables/#1

Further to the above.
I tried deactivating the Custom Post Type called “Slideshow Images” and the Featured Image functionality returned.
Tried reactivating that CPT again, but it wouldn’t let me! The status just remained at “deactivated”.
Deleted the “Slideshow Images” CPT and recreated it from scratch, setting it up with “Parent: Page” post relationship and the problem returns.
Basically, it appears that whenever the “Fields Table” for my CPT of “Slideshow Images” is displayed, the Featured Image function stops working.
So the problem appears to be related to any changes that were made to the Fields Table functionality between 1.6.4 and 1.6.6
I can confirm that my custom post type also has a child post type.
